Rem, the solar elixir of Réminiscence, is introduced in a cologne version for thesummer. Created in 1996 and repeatedly imitated, the original transported us to a tropical beach, feet in the sand, gazing at the turquoise blue ocean. A vacation fragrance dressed in the sweet charm of white flowers and enriched with emphasizedsalicylates, those small molecules whose scent evokes the idea of sunscreen. All this is carried on the sea breeze of calone, while vanilla completes the scene by slipping in a monoï effect.
Rem l'Acqua keeps the white floral frame and iodine from the original, but this new version breaths a breeze of freshness. Where the first took us to the heart of the Caribbean, this version would rather be an ode to the Mediterranean. Lesslascivious, the composition is built on an accord of "sea salt", composed of as much citrus as calone freshness. The accord is supported by a woody and mineral background, creating the feel of sun-heated skin after a swim in the sea on a beachof sand and pebbles.
Bergamot is placed in the top to illuminate the calone (a synthetic note that brings an iodine aroma) with a tangy freshness. If the solar effect of the salicylates is still present, the duo of white flowers (lilac, jasmine, ylang-ylang) and vanilla makes it more discreet. The crystalline sillage brings the Monoi effect more to the beachy side. In the end, the base is drier, using patchouli and ambroxan for their woody notes. |
Top notes: Bergamot, Calone
Heart notes: Lilac, Ylang-ylang, Jasmin, Rose, Sand Lily Accord
Base notes: Tonka Bean, Ambroxan, Patchouli, White Musk
It is perfumer Matthieu Nardin, from Robertet, who is behind this new eau fraîche, which will be available from April 2016 in 100ml (71 EUR).
