N. 89 by Floris - " British soap ”

No. 89 by Floris
is a delightfully old-school “dandy” gem, quite a prototypical British soapy barbershop scent all about rose, lavender, mossy woods and citrus. It’s astonishingly uncreative, but truly impeccable to any extent. And surprisingly rich and good quality even in the current version, which smells absolutely great, round, not overly synthetic or flat as many current versions of old fragrances – or as other inferior, similarly-themed English products like Geo Trumper’s ones (Floris is quite better quality-wise for me). Bronnley’s Gentleman cologne does quite a similar job at a more affordable price, but No. 89 smells probably a bit deeper and more distinguished than that, also more rose-y and powdery. Very classy, very solid, very “gentlemanly”, a tad pedantic yet less boring than it may seem. More than pleasant all in all. British barbers’ soap at its finest.

7,5/10

A Rose For... by Floris

by: Elena Knezhevich

Floris London has designed a modern floriental perfume, A Rose for... , devoted to the Rose and inspired by the relationship the flower has with intense fragility. A Rose for... has become a part of Floris' By Request perfume service.
A Rose for...: "the main character of the fragrance is carried in the heart where the floral balance of red roses is delicately wrapped in incense, oud and orris. Characteristic warm woody notes of sandalwood, cedarwood and amber in the base give the fragrance strength, refinement and depth".
Following a visit to the rose fields of Morocco in 2015, Edward Bodenham (the ninth-generation descendant of Floris and marketing manager of the brand) was intrigued by how roses have the ability to interpret the identity of its natural origin, and sought to explore this classic Floris perfume note in an altogether different environment of exotic warmth, ardour and elegant beauty. A Rose for... is unique to the possessor, signifying their personal attachment to the scent. Defined by no-one, it is truly for you.
By request limited edition
A ROSE FOR…
Only 100 bottles will be hand-poured at 89 Jermyn Street and sold exclusively in store and atflorislondon.com, each bottle being named by hand as a final flourish for the owner, thus creating 100 absolutely unique fragrances.
NOTES

Heart:
Red roses, Tuberose, Orris, Oud

The perfume service By Request was started to realize some brilliant ideas the house of Floris regularly received from their customers.
"Periodically an idea will be selected from the requests received, which will be hand blended by the Floris perfumer. A very limited number of eau de parfums will then be realised for purchase in the Floris shops and online".
Since the start, several unique perfume creations have been released. Some of them are still available online (Fumee de Jasmin and Malmaison Encore).

Floris Jermyn Street: A Celebration of Home

by: Jodi Battershell

In August 2015, classic British fragrance house Floris releasedJermyn Street Eau de Parfum, a unisex green citrus fragrance inspired by the brand's home for nearly 300 years, 89 Jermyn Street in London.
Also home to famed shirtmakers such as Pink and Charles Tyrwhitt, luxury goods brands such as Alfred Dunhill, and barbers Trumper and Taylor of Old Bond Street, Jermyn Street has been dressing and grooming British gentlemen for more than a century. As the oldest English retailer of fragrances, Floris has hung its hat at 89 Jermyn Street ever since its founder, Juan Famenias Floris, established the business in 1730.
A fragrance of understated class and style, Jermyn Street pays tribute to the elegance and excitement of the celebrated street in the 21st century, with a nod to the Jermyn Street of Juan Famenias Floris' time. Drawing on notes of gin and old copper stills, with a splash of lemon, the citrus and green notes blend with vetiver, a chord that runs through the fragrance from top to base. Vetiver in the heart blends with juniper and coriander (echoing the gin theme) as well as armoise (artemisia), a woody-green aroma recalling the popular  London plane trees, one of which still stands in front of the store. Vetiver in the base is entwined with amber, cedar and musk, which together impart a note of crisp cotton, inspired by the many shirtmakers who have taken up residence on Jermyn Street over the years.
Top notes: bergamot, mandarin orange, vetiver and violet
Middle notes: coriander, vetiver, armoise and juniper berries.
Base notes: amber, cedarwood, musk and vetiver.
Jermyn Street is the latest release in the Private Collection line of Floris, which includes 2014 releases Honey Oud and Leather Oud, among others. Jermyn Street is available as a 100 ml eau de parfum spray, on the official Floris website, at the flagship 89 Jermyn Street store, the Floris boutique in Belgravia and select retailers throughout the UK.
Visiting this week's Elements at Capsule showcase Sept. 17-19 in New York? Floris is one of the exhibitors and Jermyn Street will be available to test at the Floris display.

Floris By Request, Petals From My Garden

The house from London, FLORIS, is launching a new limited edition named PETALS FROM MY GARDEN, specially made for the exclusive collection BY REQUEST. Petals From My Garden will be a flowery-green fragrance, inspired by lush English nature crowned with flowery petals, and available only in 50 bottles hand made in Jermyn Street. Launching date is March 3, 2015.
"Reminiscent of the petal-laden gardens of childhood summers, PETALS FROM MY GARDEN brings together a nostalgic bouquet of scented English country gardens. A fresh fragrance with the note of spring flowers that evokes long-forgotten memories of youth. This unique scent has been expertly created under the direction of Edward Bodenham, 9th generation of the Floris family with his perfumery team, for Spring 2015 as part of Floris’s exclusive By Request range.

Our wish is to inject a drop of innocence and a splash of nostalgia into the first By Request for 2015. Perfume is our family tradition, although for many of us it begins as children, enjoying the adventure of exploring the garden and the wonderful early emotion of creativity. Selecting petals and blending them in jam jars is a part of everyone’s youth that should be looked back on with warm affection. Edward’s natural fondness for scent has been encouraged from working alongside his grandfather at 89 Jermyn Street, blending fragrances below the store in our ‘Mine’.
The inspiration to create PETALS FROM MY GARDEN came last spring, when Edward’s daughter spent a day creating her first ‘Jam Jar’ perfume in their family garden. Sadly her creation only remained with the family for a few days, but the moment itself provided enough inspiration for Edward to want to dedicate the 2015 Spring By Request to her.
During the development of PETALS FROM MY GARDEN, Edward’s young daughter Isabelle Rose visited 89 Jermyn Street to lend inspiration to the perfumers and share her own thoughts and ideas for the fragrance."—Floris press release

The fragrance opens with a fresh zest of rose and sparkling lemon
notes with bergamot, which develop to a clear, crisp rose with
hints of green geranium, neroli blossom and carnation. Base notes
of amber and musk carry the delicate scent through to its
completion.

Top Notes: Lemon, Bergamot, Rose
Heart Notes: Rose, Neroli Blossom, Carnation
Base Notes: Amber, Musk
FLORIS BY REQUEST PETALS FROM MY GARDEN will be available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum bottles by the suggested price of £160.
