According to NYMag, a top model from the 60s and the former creative director at American Vogue (now creative director at large), Grace Coddington, is launching her first perfume, Grace by Grace Coddinton, which she developed with Parisian fashion brand Comme des Garçons.
From the book The Catwalk Cats (2006), in which fashion powerhouses Grace Coddington and Didier Malige record their relationship through photographs (Malige's) and drawings (Coddington's) that document the couple's highly entertaining private and work lives through the eyes of their feline friends, the special relationship Coddington has with cats was already clear. It's no surprise, therefore, that she also decided on a cat theme for her perfume's flacon. It is a Fabien Baron–designed bottle with a custom cat-shaped cap derived from one of Coddington’s own sketches.
Main notes: peach blossom, white musk, amber, Moroccan rose.
“My mother had a rose garden, and it just never occurred to me to smell like any other smell except rose,” Coddington tells Vogue about her lifelong obsession with the floral scent that is at the heart of her first fragrance.
Grace by Grace Coddington, starting at $110, will be available from April 19 at Dover Street Market.
