Designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne just revealed their first ad campaign for DKNY after being named creative directors back in April.
The powerful black-and-white images were photographed by Lachlan Bailey at Red Hook Labs in Brooklyn. For DKNY's spring ads, the designers tapped modelAdrienne Jüliger.
"[Jüliger] is versatile. She looks youthful, but also strong and sophisticated. We wanted a woman who could show all sides of herself. Adrienne's change is subtle," Chow told WWD.
He and Osborne wanted to emphasize the ideal woman behind the brand's designs, and that their DKNY customer is more mature than a girl.
"We always refer to her as a woman," Chow said in an interview last September, prior to his first DKNY show, according to WWD.
"The modern woman we envision has just started getting into her own in terms of career, starting a family, her life is multilayered with different dimensions. When you're young, it's not as complex. For us, those complexities and those dimensions are the interesting pieces in determining what she wants to wear," Chow explained.
The new ads for the New York-based brand — founded by Donna Karan in 1984 — will debut in global fashion and lifestyle publications, and behind-the-scenes visuals of the shoot are expected to launch on its website in mid-February.
The first DKNY womenswear collection from the co-designers behind Public School was unveiled at New York Fashion Week for the fall/winter 2015 season.
