Two new exclusive boutiques fronted by one of the people most relevant in establishing the niche segment of the fragrance market? That's great news. The acquisition of the Editions de Parfums by Frédéric Malle brand by the Lauder Group is producing an enhanced distribution and sampling opportunity for the house, as expressed by the opening of two new boutiques in two crucial points for shoppers: the UK and Italy.
14 BURLINGTON ARCADE, LONDON
A new London boutique was inaugurated lately by Frédéric Malle at 14, Burlington Arcade. Frédéric Malle, for this store set in the quintessentially English covered promenade, mixed and matched a Martin Szekely commissioned table with a few emblematic pieces of his visual language.
VIA DEL BABUINO 30, ROME
Last summer, Malle's first Italian store was set in via del Babuino 30, Rome. He designed this store to embody his ideal Roman home. The drastic stylistic contrasts that define the Malle stores, which resemble cabinets of oddities, are now establishing their roots in Rome.
37, RUE DE GRENELLE, PARIS
There are currently boutiques selling Editions de Parfums by Frédéric Malle in 39 different countries. The first Editions de Parfums boutique is located at 37 Rue de Grenelle and was opened in 2000. Imagined by Andrée Putman and Frédéric Malle and designed by Olivier Lempereur this store resembled half Parisian apartment, half fragrance lab, and still has the atmosphere of a curiosity cabinet. Its eclectic style is miles away from the minimalist tone that prevailed at the time.
