We have wonderful news for all Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle fans: at the start of the year, the brand will launch a fragrance in collaboration with Bruno Jovanovic titled Monsieur. A hallmark of Monsieur is its incredibly high concentration of patchouli: over 50%; that's the same role tuberose played in another classic from the brand - Carnal Flower.
The PR office of the brand also states that the fragrance is made in a neoclassical manner as a counter to widespread, olfactive fast fashion; it's inspired by the style of Alfonso de Portago, Mark Birley, Jose-Luis de Villalonga and Gianni Agnelli, the main seducers of the 20th century.
The composition starts with fresh sparks of tangerine which later mingle to syrupy notes ofrum absolute and then transforms into a sea of patchouli at the heart of Monsieur. A substantial dose of cedar and incense provides mystical vibrations. Hints of vanilla andmusk round out the edges of the fragrance and gives its brutal part a touch of elegance.
This is Bruno Jovanovic's second work for Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle; the first was Dries van Noten which also has a noticeable patchouli character.
Monsieur will be availiable in January or February, 2016; the cost of a 50 ml bottle will be $200, and a 100ml will be $300.
We will also publish a longerarticle about Monsieur closer to the date of launch.
