Egyptian history is not only fascinating for history buffs, it's also one of the most popular referents for perfume lovers as well. The mystery and sensuality of Egyptian preparations for scented use have created an interest in paying homage to that sensuous culture who exalted perfumes like a gift from beyond the grave.
Maliqá, by Lamis Atef, pays tribute to the elegance and prestige of the ancient Egyptian Queen: a truly sensual, fierce, and fearless woman. Lamis, a New York-based graphic designer with a life-long interest in scents, born to Egyptian parents, had always wanted to capture this fascination in a perfume.
Maliqá, derived from the word “Malika” (Maa-leh-kah) is defined as "Queen" in the Semitic languages. It is a fragrance that embodies a floral, yet subtle radiance, to remind women to embellish their inner beauty and discover the Queen within.
The new floral fragrance is focused on the Nile River flower, the water lotus. The complementing notes of rose and peony add a touch of floral femininity while the deeper notes of woods and musk complete the harmony of the fragrance for tenacity and warmth.
