MCMC Fragrances Humanity Project: Third Edition with Three New Scents

by: Jodi Battershell

MCMC Fragrances, the Brooklyn-based fragrance house established by perfumerAnne McClain, who operates it in conjunction with her sister, Katie, announces the third edition in its Humanity Project series. The Humanity Project fragrances are inspired by Anne's volunteer experiences with organizations in the United States and abroad, and a portion of the proceeds from sales of Humanity Project fragrances are donated to their corresponding organization. The first edition, 2012 release Humanity, was inspired by her volunteer work at a daycare center in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Later in 2012, the second Humanity Project releases, Amara and Savann, inspired by Anne's experiences in Cambodia, were distributed in partnership with retailer Anthropologie. The third edition of the Humanity Project was inspired by Anne's work with El Puente, a Brooklyn community organization.
MCMC taught a six-week perfume-making class to twelve young women as part of El Puente's Youth Leadership Program. Beginning with a series of interviews to uncover their personal stories, each of the young women then conceived a custom fragrance and learned to create it from their choice of more than 75 ingredients. The three new Humanity Project fragrances—Monoi de TiareAmerican Beauty and Crowned in Victory—were inspired by Anne's work with the young women.
Monoi de Tiare features sea spray and coconut oil, mixed with gardenia and vanilla.Crowned in Victory has notes of fig, bright poppy, ivy and summer flowers. American Beauty combines pink pepper and deep heritage roses with edges of wild violet and leather. The packaging for all three fragrances featues artwork by Helen Dealtry. Each scent is packaged in a 1 oz. French glass atomizer bottle with an Italian ashwood cap.

All three new Humanity Project fragrances are available at Anthropologie stores across the United States and on the official website of Anthropologie. Learn more about the Humanity Project and MCMC's other fragrance offerings on the website of MCMC.
