KEMI BLENDING MAGIC Collection by Sergio Momo

by: Sandra Raičević Petrović

Sergio Momo, owner of popular and luxurious niche lines Xerjoff, Casamorati 1888, Join The Club and Oud Stars, presents his brand new collection named KEMI Blending Magic. The new fragrant line is divided by fragrance concentrations into Attar Oil, Eau de Parfum and Parfum categories. This collection plays on categories by mixing raw materials from the Middle East and by highlighting the opulence of the intense shades that each perfume provides.
Collection Kemi Blending Magic is inspired by alchemy as an influential philosophical tradition whose practitioners have even claimed since ancient times that it was the base of the strongest powers. Perfumes could not be created or formed without a touch of alchemy, and this ancient art was perfected till present day for the conversion of raw materials to the perfect revised form.

ATTAR OIL - ELIXIR, TEMPEST

Among the Attar Oil offer one can choose fragrances Elixir and Tempest in glass flacons as 15 ml. Elixir has an oriental-woody composition which opens with top notes of opulent flowers with copahu balsam. The heart provides a harmony of basil, juniper, nagarmotha and labdanum, leading to a mixture of oud, labdanum, gurjun balsam and ambergris. Elixir, as an elixir of life is also familiar as an immortality elixir, a stone of wisdom and it is also stated it is capable of creating life. Inspired by the elixir, the exchange of shades in this perfume extrait receives a whole new meaning.
Tempest opens with a fresh citrus top of lemon, bergamot, sweet orange, petitgrain and lavender, spiced with delicate accords of elemi and lemonish-tart ginger. The heart introduces cedar, nagarmotha oil, gurjun balsam, jasmine, rose and cashmeran, on a base of patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, musk, amber and oud. Tempest was mostly influenced by the work of William Shakespeare, in an imaginary alchemic way (calming Kings and sons, Ariel as the spirit of Mercurius), typical magicians of alchemy.

EAU DE PARFUMS - HAYAT, KEMI, LAYLA, LUNA

Hayat is one of the four eaux de parfum, constructed as a woody-oriental fragrance. The name Hayat means "life" in Arabic and it unites all elements of life forming the universe: water, fire, each and air. Its opening is tart and intense, created of bitter orange and saffron, delicately softened by aromatic lavender. The heart of the composition accentuates the beauty of spices with a blend of cardamom and cinnamon, combined with warm amber, while the base puts wood in the first plan by mixing oud, patchouli, cedar and nagarmotha.
Fragrance Kemi opens with woody flavors of oud and cedar, accompanied with warm oriental caramel notes as it develops. The heart offers scents of gurjan balsam, delicately sweetened with caramel, along with castoreum and civet, resting on a base composed of vanilla, sandalwood and wood. The name Kemi originates from an ancient Greek word which might come from an ancient Egyptian version of the name Egypt, based on the word kēme. Al-Kemi denotes Egyptian art and Egyptians call their land Kemi and they believed they were the most powerful magicians (alchemists) in the world.

Layla highlights spices and oriental flavors. Top notes incorporate spicy touch of cloves and nutmeg embellished with seductive flowers of ylang-ylang enhanced with cedar ruling the composition. The warm, oriental finish comes from scents of amber, vanilla, patchouli and musk, along with sweet aromas. Arabic word Layla means "night", and many studies and important formulas were connected with nights, since astronomy took an important part and influenced the alchemic processes.
The fourth fragrance of the collection, available as Eau de Parfum is Luna, which starts with fruity and juicy zests of peach, apricot, lemon, mandarin, black currant and apples, with smoky shade of incense, green notes and spices. The heart poses contrast with a floral union of iris, rose and jasmine, while character is provided by cedar and leather. The base of the composition offers a warm and velvety trail of amber, musk and vanilla. In Italian and Latin, Luna stands for the moon. In this case, alchemy and astronomy are closely connected. Traditionally, each of the seven celestial bodies of the solar system has been closely connected with one metal since the ancient times. Luna is associated with silver.

PARFUMS - JABIR, 'ILM

Fragrances Jabir and 'Ilm were introduced in perfume concentration, in 50 ml flacons. . JABIR IBN HAYYAN has been considered the "father of alchemy," and he introduced a scientific and experimental approach to alchemy. He envisaged experimenting and many chemical processes, such as filtration, which leads to alcohol distillation. He is one of the founders of the perfume industry. The fragrance dedicated to him is calledJabir. Top notes of this oriental-floral composition incorporate pink pepper accompanied with freesia and violet aromas. The heart of the fragrance highlights the beauty of floral scents of peony, rose and lily of the valley, while the oriental-woody base is created of patchouli, oud, vanilla, musk and elegant vetiver.
'Ilm is a fragrance completely dedicated to oud and provides three shades of this precious ingredient. Top notes encompass Indian Assam oud, replaced in later stages by oud from Bangladesh in the heart, while the base accentuates sophisticated aromas of oud from Laos. Ilm in Arabic means "knowledge" and explains the development of science during the golden age of Islam.
