Bissoumine Matin D'Azur

Bissoumine announces its latest fragrance, Matin D'Azur—the first fragrance release from this French house since 2013's Aria Sublime (though founder and perfumer Kitty Shpirer has kept busy with other flavor-and-fragrance related projects, such as her 2014 collaboration with chocolatier Christian Camprini). Matin D'Azur is the tenth release for this house based right in the heart of the perfume industry in Grasse, France and it takes inspiration from the perfumer's delightful surroundings on the French Riviera.

Kitty describes the origins of Matin D'Azur (which translates to "azure morning" and also "French Riviera morning"): "Inspired by a radiant Mediterranean light, I wanted to convey with this perfume a resolutely optimistic olfactory message, a feeling of well-being, carefree, in the mood for embracing life..."

Matin D'Azur is an optimistic and happy perfume: Mediterranean, chic and easy to wear for all occasions. Perhaps we can't all be in the Mediterranean, but Matin D'Azur's elegant and vivid sillage invites us to embrace life with a feeling of summertime all year. Sunny citruses and a heart of fruity osmanthus flowers, complemented by white peach, convey the positive mood of a cheerful morning on the Mediterranean. The fragrance dries down to soft and mysterious smoky woods and suede notes. The azure skies of the Mediterranean and the uplifting vibe of the fragrance are echoed by the blue and yellow of the label and box.

I've had the good fortune to experience all of the Bissoumine creations (including the chocolates!) and they are beautiful, unique and an absolute delight for the senses. I look forward to trying Matin D'Azur and sharing my thoughts in the coming the weeks.
