On May the 5th, 2015, in the presence of some of the most prestigious and most influential figures in the perfume industry of the Middle East, IFF organized the second edition of its Dubai Speed Smelling event. This significant event was opened by Hussam Yaccoub, General Manager IFF Dubai and Sabrya Meflah, VP Regional General Manager Fine Fragrance, EAME. Dubai-based IFF Perfumer Julien Rasquinet joined the distinguished colleagues, perfumers Dominique Ropion,Sophie Labbe and Alienor Massenet of IFF Paris, together with Jean-Louis Sieuzac, who is now the exclusive consultant perfumer at IFF in the region.
Each of the five mentioned perfumers took a 7-minute challenge to present their exclusive designs that were imagined and composed specifically for this event.
Julien Rasquinet has created a fragrance that is based on one of the most emblematic ambassadors of Arabian perfumery: amber! He combined the beautiful spicy LMR note with accords of Turkish delights and oud oil, which has been presented recently as a superior-quality oil.
Dominique Ropion creation was triggered by a deep R&D analysis of oud oil, where molecules were identified to be similar to those in pineapple. For the composition, he chose a blend of oud, ozone notes, and pineapple, using only LMR to add oil. The accords of ozone are woven from slightly sour aromas, green gardenia and violet leaf.
Sophie Labbé derives her inspiration from the coasts of Dubai. She created a wonderful chypre scent supported by sea salt blend and highlighted with chords of cold spicy notes. To evoke the breathtaking skyscrapers located near the sea coast, Sophie chose cool and sparkling notes of cardamom and pink pepper. The scent contains a blend of sea breeze, ozone chords, salty notes, and cool spices, harmonically arranged with the beautiful union of the classical LMR Rose Essential™ and Rose Ultimate Extract™.
Aliénor Massenet creates a perfume based on the stirring chords of olives, which is a symbol of generosity, combined with LMR tonka bean and leather notes. Her intention was to offer a rich reinterpretation of the Orient and oriental perfumery. As she points out, her creation is a modern version of an oriental fragrance, made with salty aromas. Salty notes, which are derived from olive chords, are leading us to the luxurious heart blooming with roses, gourmet and warm nuances of plum, and animalistic notes. The rich and warm notes of tonka bean, LMR oud, and amber extreme, are left in the background to give a modern twist to the traditional oriental composition.
Jean-Louis Sieuzac is inspired by the famous Fouquet café, which is located in the Champs Elysées overhearing customers speaking Arabic and travelling back through space to the smells and tastes of the Middle-East. His fragrance opens with powerful aromas of coffee, combined with some of his favorite ingredients such as cardamom, saffron and oud.

LMR presented to the guests its new oud oil produced and extracted to meet the highest standards of sustainability and quality. The power and purity of the oil seduced the audience, probably the most demanding in the world!

IFF Fragrance Ingredients also presented, for the first time ever, its exclusive Amber Xtreme™  molecule, a woody ambery molecule of Xtreme Power and Xtreme Performance, particularly relevant for Middle-Eastern perfumery.
